Aurel Basedow is an artist and painter born in Munich in 1963. After completing his studies in Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, he successfully co-founded a multidisciplinary design studio together with his wife. However, his true passion for painting drove him to make a radical change in 2015, when he decided to dedicate himself body and soul to his art.
The Style and Works of Aurel K. Basedow
Aurel K. Basedow's creations feature free forms and liquid colors, obtained through layers of resins and embedded objects. The transparency of the resin gives visual depth to the works, revealing multiple compositional images that intersect and overlap. His works do not aim to faithfully represent reality, but to capture a feeling of restlessness, thanks to an artistic process that feeds on unpredictability and pictorial evolution.
His personal aesthetic alphabet is inspired by the expressive pictorial lines of the famous "American Action painters", as described by the critic Harold Rosenberg. Aurel K. Basedow translates his strong body ritual into chromia and sign, giving his works a powerful physical impact and a feeling of spontaneous and free action.
Painting is described as an almost ritualistic process, in which strident or earthy textures and tones emerge, reflecting the noise of his subconscious and his deepest emotions. With his painting, the artist manages to speak to the heart and soul, leaving an indelible mark on the mind of those who admire his works.
