Works by Azeite de Leos
The relationships between drawing and writing are the basis of his artistic research, as well as the plastic production is focused on printing processes (monotype), collage, décollage and image construction. The works investigate the use of the symbology of walls and their manifestations inherent to the urban environment (indices of the passage of time: “sedimentary memory”, wear, fragility, soot, lacerations, oxidations and accumulation of residues). The wall becomes a support and material in the elaboration of the compositions.
Azeite de Leos, born in São Paulo in 1979, holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation and a Master’s degree in Visual Poetics from the Santa Marcelina College. He took part in the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris Artist Residency Program: run by the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation - FAAP in partnership with the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. He held the solo exhibitions “MUR/MUROS” and “Tempos que Habitam em Mim” at Galeria Casagaleria. He has participated in several exhibitions, such as: “ Um livro sobre a morte” at the MUBE - Brazilian Sculpture Museum, ABERTO 10 in Uberlândia - MG, “Exhibition Program of the Centro Cultural São Paulo” - SP, “Revisitando Leila Reinert” at FUNARTE – SP. Acquisition prizes: “Luiz Sacilotto exhibition of Santo André” and the “21o Plastic Arts exhibitions of Praia Grande”. Revelation prizes: “34o Anual de Arte da FAAP”, “4th Americana exhibitions”. He works as an educator in schools, museums, and temporary exhibitions. He served as supervisor of educators at the 30th São Paulo International Art Biennial. Currently, he is an arts teacher for Elementary School I in São Paulo.
