David Hanes (Canadian/American, born 1987, Toronto) is a visual artist living and working in Berlin, Germany. His work ranges from drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture, with a recent focus on painting and reimagining painting traditions. And, as a continued student of both the classic antiquities as well as modern technology, David brings uniqueperspective and mindfulness into his daily approach to both art making, as well as living with gratitude. His emphasis on the philosophy of painting, the living of it, becomes in itself a process of acceptance—transforming his work into not just a passing experience but an account of living in a body and a world that is ever changing.
