Desiderio was born in 1978 in Milan. He lives and works in the province of Terni. Winner of the Italian Factory Award 2008 and finalist in several awards including Cairo Award 2012, SESIFF The 3rd Seoul International Extreme-Short Image & Film Festival (KOREA), AZYL film festival One World One Minute (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary) and others. For many years he travels between Italy and Cuba and participates in the 54th Venice Biennale (2011) in the Cuba Pavilion and two editions of the Havana Biennale (2012; 2015) and the 4th Bienal del Fin del Mundo in Valparaiso (Chile) in 2015. He has done solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Berlin, Hubei Museum China, Hitabashi Art Museum, Tokyo, etc.) and in 2009 he participated in the group exhibition Apocalipse Wow! at Macro Future in Rome. His interdisciplinary work is contaminated with multiple languages, performative interaction and a particular interest in video and directing, so much so that he has been called "a director who paints". In 2017 he closes the cycle Beauty Hazard first at Museo CAOS (Terni) and the same year at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan with Nirvana. In 2019 he realizes Malebolge inside the former church San Michele Arcangelo in Amelia, a project dedicated to the Inferno of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy that anticipates the 700th anniversary of his death (1321 - 2021).
