Ekaterine (Katerina) Bagdavadze was born in 1916 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1936-1941 she studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. Her works are distinguished by their expressiveness. She has received numerous awards in Georgia. Ekaterine is very popular with the artists of that time. She is an Honored Artist of Georgia and has been a member of the Georgian Artists' Union since 1948. Ekaterine was awarded a special order for her role in the development of Georgian Art in 1958 and had numerous solo exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art. In 1960 she was awarded with the Special Prize of Honored Public Figure of Art. The works of Ekaterine Baghdavadze are kept in various museums of Georgia (Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi; G. Leonidze State Museum of Georgian Literature, Ambrolauri Museum of Fine Arts, etc.) and in private collections. She died in 1975 in Tbilisi. Nowadays her solo exhibitions are often held in Georgia and abroad.
