Giorgio Tentolini is a renowned artist born in Casalmaggiore (CR) in 1978. His analytical approach to vision was influenced by his background in the graphic arts and his professional experience as a photographer.
Works and Expressive Techniques
Since the 2000s, Giorgio Tentolini has developed an original expressive technique. Through the superimposition of layers of wire mesh, patiently shaped by hand and strategically positioned, he creates fascinating chiaroscuro gradations. These compositions portray the faces of young women, mannequins, details of classical statuary, interiors of buildings and urban views.
Over the years, the artist has experimented with different materials, including acetate and plexiglass slabs, acetate or wood slats, and layers of PVC netting. He even worked with paper and tulle to capture light and shadow, thus creating a wide range of expressive works.
The Distinctive Feature of the Works of Giorgio Tentolini
Giorgio Tentolini's works are characterised by a play of interweaving, phase shifting and overlapping hexagonal elements in the mesh of metal nets. This allows you to capture the figure, offering perceptual complexity and unique distinctive traits. Light plays a fundamental role in his work, rationally recomposing the points of brightness and giving a material consistency to the intangible sensory sign.
Through the process of stratification of memories and experiences, Giorgio Tentolini's works evoke retinal impressions, raising doubts and questions about the true essence of the human being and the elusive consistency of reality.
