Guillaume Corneille,  was born in Belgium in 1922.

After having attended courses at the School of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, he started his painting experience influenced by Surrealism.

He is co-founder with Karel Appel, Eugene Brands and Anton Rosskens of the experimental "Reflex" movement and initiator and exponent of the Co.Br.A group. with Karel Appel, Constant Nieuwenuhuis, Asger Jorn and Marcel Dotremont. Other painters, poets and writers will soon be added to this group.

In 1949 he undertook his first trip to North Africa, where he discovered the Arab and Berber world.

Corneille after developing his artistic path in an abstract sense towards an abstract landscape, during the 50s, returns to figuration and at the beginning of the 60s, impressed by the colors of the nature of southern Europe and North Africa, he shifted his interest towards expressionism.

He died in Auvers-sur-Oise in 2010.
