Jacques Trichet is a French artist born in 1955 who lives and works in Saint Martin Lars in Sainte Hermine, France. After a trip in Mexico in 1978 where he discovered Mayan drawings as a revelation and upon his return to France, he confirmed his choice to become a painter. Three painters hold his attention: Turner, Zao Wou-Ki and Rothko. Three breakaway painters to whom he feels artistically or philosophically closed. Between the figuration of Turner, the dazzling of his last paintings and the abstraction of Zao Wou-Ki and Rothko, the painting of Jacques Trichet takes shape. He chooses oil paint for the flexibility and smoothness of the materials which allows him to render both the softness and the violence of life. He also adds oil pastel for more recreational moments where he rediscovers the magic of marsh landscapes. Solo and group exhibitions lead him to travel to France, Europe and China where he is an honorary member of the Cao Dong Academy, a monastery in the Jiangxi region.
