A painter who is passionate about his craft, he is known for following the inexhaustible trail of artists who have explored the genres of portraiture and landscape, treating them as something mysterious and urgent, in a continuous state of renewal. “Everything new under the sun.” Juan creates paintings built up from layers and glazes, with motifs often drawn from his immediate surroundings: his daughters, friends, and the mountains of Asturias. He has exhibited his work in national galleries such as La New Gallery in Madrid, Alejandro Sales in Barcelona, and Espacio Líquido in Gijón. His work has also been shown in institutions like the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, El Centro Niemeyer, Laboral Centro de Arte, and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, where he presented the exhibition EdLuciente (accompanied by a catalogue). Juan's work is represented in collections such as the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, the Colección Los Bragales, and the Colección María Cristina Masaveu Peterson. In 2020, he curated the exhibition Painting in the Veins at the Museo Barjola in Gijón.
