Karine Locke was born in Toulon in 1969. She discovered painting thanks to her grandfather, Amédée Pianfetti, a well-known and highly-rated painter from Toulon. Initially, she worked as a primary school teacher. However, some years later, after she had met the man of her life, she embarked on projects concerning painting and writing. She began painting in January 2021 and she began a self-taught artist. even though her paintings have evolved, one thing remains constant: acrylics, colour and emotion. Mostly semi-abstract at the very beginning of her project, her paintings gradually gave way to an abstract style, an aesthetic based on matter where the use of the knife takes on its full meaning. In her paintings, colour is always very present, starting to show her interest in lines and the effects of perspective. Her work is as spontaneous and immediate as possible, it is always somewhere between dream and reality, opening the door to dreams, escapism and imagination. She aims that viewers will let themselves be carried away by what they feel as they look at her paintings.
She is inspired by painters as Amédée Pianfetti, Jadis, Crozat Coulmont, Francis Haguier, Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet, Sam Gilliam.
