Léonie Nafsica Jarlan is a self-taught Parisian painter, born in Athens in 1994.
She draws inspiration from observing nature, from the formation of landscapes to their infinite nuances, as well as from terrestrial and celestial cartography. The recurrent theme of her work is the encounter of these elements, transcended by the dreamlike sensitivity of her interpretation.
Her artistic research leads her towards a plurality of techniques and materials, with metallic media (inks; gold, silver, aluminum, copper leaf, etc.) imposing themselves as her signature. Her pictorial language, composed of purified forms with sharp contours, explores the nebulous boundaries between figuration and abstraction, evoking at times steep coasts seen from the sky, at times celestial bodies suspended in space. Her palette of natural colors combined with metal sublimates the material and texture to create an illusory and ever-changing movement on the canvas, playing with ambient light and the observer's point of view.
Through these imaginary landscapes arising from her own inner journey, she invites us to escape, dream, and meditate.
