Mark Arbeit was born in 1953, in Chicago. Aloong the years, he has established himself as a master of fashion, portraiture, and fine art photography. While he was studying at Art Center College of Design in California, he met his future mentor and friend, Helmut Newton. Later, he moved to New York, where he started to work in the studio of Irving Penn. In 1981 he began his career in Milan, photographing for Linea Italiana, Donna, Amica and Vogue Bellezza magazines. Some years later, in 1985, he moved to Paris, to expand his artistic boundaries. There, he launched ‘In & Out of Focus’, a series were he focused on a flower and in the background, an out-of-focus female nude, playing against the shape of the bloom. Menawhile, he continued to work editorially, between Paris and New York, and working for other important magazines, such as In Style, Forbes, People, French Vogue and Marie Claire. Consequently, he launched his second series, 'Artist Atelier', which is about female nudes in painter/ sculpture studios in Paris.
