Mélanie Patris is a Belgian photographer born in 1977 who lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. After completing the Académie de Photographie in Brussels, she continued to train in the field of film, experimental and old practices. She refined her approach by participating in several workshops and residencies in Belgium and abroad. Her anthropological perspective and practice as an art therapist in psychiatry help her to broaden the artist’s understanding of the world and deepen her photographic and visual research. She sees in her work an ethnographic approach that allows her to explore and question the meaning of images more broadly. Her first book "Eugénie", published by Editions Arp2, was released in November 2020 in Brussels. Her work are exhibited in galleries and festivals in Belgium and abroad. It has been shown in Belgium (Brussels, Namur, Huy, Waterloo, La Louvière), in France (Paris, Montpellier, Arles, Nantes, Rennes, Ascain), in Spain (Barcelona), in Romania (Cluj), in Great Britain Brittany (Wolverhampton) and in the United States (New York, Denver & Minneapolis).
