Works by Michele Cascella

Michele Cascella (Ortona 1892 – Milano 1989) is a painter of flowers and landscapes. His rapid and thin touch and his pleasent views are rich in chromatic emphasis. At first he painted with pastels, en plain air and then he realized oil on canvas in his studio.

He comes from an artistic family. His brother and him learned the thecnique with their father Basilio. During the First World War he took part in the army and he documented military life with his brushes. After the war he went to Milan and he worked with ceramic, watercolours, oil on canvas. He obtained a great success and the esteem of the critics thanks to a good review written by Carlo Carrà who liked the elgance and the primitivism of his works. From this moment he exhibit his paintings in many Italian and foreign cities (London, Paris, Bruxelles). Today his works are collected in many Italian museum (Milan, Turin, Rome...) and abroad (Bruxelles, Paris, London, Santa Clara - California).
