Her work revolves around the challenge of living in Patagonia: the distance between the center and the periphery, the climate, the geography and the politics of the place. In his work, which incorporates various techniques and formats, the territory as a specific site of expression and the ways of inhabiting it are central, not as conclusive instances, but as opportunities for significant and meaningful experiences, in which the ephemeral occupies a prominent place as a binding conceptual metaphor.
From painting, Viel has expanded into other forms of expression such as video installation, video art, and photo performance, understanding these supports as effective ways of thinking about territory and the ways of inhabiting it as the axis of her production. She is an artist, curator, teacher and independent manager, where she tries to promote the regional scene by connecting artists from different parts of Patagonia.
