Works by Samuel Djive

Samuel Aräo Djive was born in 1979 in Maputo, Mozambique. He originally studied Graphic Design at the National School of Visual Arts in 2004 and later obtained a degree in Product Design from the Higher Institute of Arts and Culture (ISArC). Currently he is obtaining his postgraduate degree in Design and Multimedia at Pedagogic University. Djive began his career as a professional visual artist in 2003 when he joined the IDENTIDADE group created by the National School of Visual Arts (ENAV) in Maputo in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto (FBAP) in Portugal. There he had the opportunity to collaborate and work with several national artists like Naguib, Malangatana, Victor Sousa, Idasse, Noel Langa, Jorge Dias, Gemuce, etc.​ Djive teaches visual arts to students from primary schools to universities. He is the creator of a project called Street Gallery in Maputo, where art, design and street exhibitions take place with alternative, creative and integrative art concepts. He also works with several international institutions in graphic design by helping to create brand image and visual identity. He also does interior design.
​From 2004 to 2018, Djive had six solo exhibitions in Mozambique and two solo exhibitions in Europe (Sweden in 2016 and Portugal in 2018). From 2004 to 2022, he participated in a total of 33 group exhibitions and art fairs which took place across Mozambique, South Africa, Italy, Macau, UAE and Portugal, as well as being a part of three mural projects in Mozambique. His artworks have been collected worldwide.
