The Passenger aka Barbara Ludovina Basile was born in Milan in 1991. She studied Fashion Design and graduated at NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in Milan in 2014. The Passenger started her artistic career as digital illustrator and over the past few years she’s been experimenting with a different kind of illustration, more coloured and traditional. In her artworks, she transfers her personal world made of transgression, rebellion, sensuality and a bit of suffering. Her experience as illustrator allowed her to understand the most hidden side of life, paying attention more to the subject than the background. Often dark, it is more like a wall or an immersive hole where the fragility of the body and its naive beauty shine through. Her artworks are deeply autobiographical: in each subject, it is possible to find a piece of her, even though faces and features are different and belonging to people she never met. Songs lyrics appear on the composition as to remember a past life, tell about feelings and emotions, where bad choices, insomnia and melancholy are the main characters.
