Vincent Ochs is a young French sculptor of 28 years old
based in Perigueux.
In 2012, he contemplates a stonecutter in a cloud of dust at the top of the
arrow of cathedral st front, it is obvious, it is the beginning of its stone way.
In 2013 he encountered stonework with the Compagnons du Devoir, took part in
heritage projects (Sainte Eulalie Church, Citadel of Blaye, etc.). To rub shoulders with the art of
pierre, he aspires very quickly to perfect his practice and to master the gesture of the sculptor.
Admitted to the Academy of Arts in Avignon, he discovered the art of modeling and the beauty
serpentine.
When he graduated from school, he continued his research around the imaginary and these
abstract shapes
Vincent Ochs sculpts serpentine from Zimbabwe in direct carving listening to the
stone which imposes its own form. He is currently exploring curves, voids,
interlacing in aerial works.
The sculpture is between violence and meticulousness, he removes matter to find the
imagined form.
He is inspired by rough stone to sculpt in the mass. He seeks the most
purified that contained the original block, to reveal what it can have of air and
of dynamics.
He sculpts fragile shapes in a particularly dense and resistant material.
