Virginia Rota (Málaga, Spain, 1989) works photography in a very personal way. Her scenes of simple compositions and without artifice, are united by a common component, a form of grisaille that creates leaden atmospheres.
'In each child humanity is born'
Jacinto Benavente
On the wisdom of childhood, a portrait of freedom of thought. A personal search in the identity of ‘‘ the others ’’, about two concepts that did not survive the death of my childhood: beauty and importance.
This project arises from the need to return to the previous moment of awareness of horror, to the time of innocence, to the years when integrity belonged to language and truth was insurmountable.
The initial objective of this work was to propose to 22 children from 4 to 11 years old that they would make a series of captures about what they consider to be 'beauty' and 'what is important' and confront them in turn with a portrait of them in the meeting process; an exchange in which they appropriate photography to make physical the concept they have of both terms, in the same way that I, as a photographer, try to appropriate that look that I don't remember, or that I lost.
