Watercolor paper and ink
1980 Magdeburg, Germany
Alex Lebus (*1980 in Magdeburg, GER) studied industrial Design in Magdeburg, followed by studies in Visual Arts at Dresden University of Fine Arts and in Manchester, UK. Alex Lebus’ main artistic theme is inversion. Using mirrors and letters, oftentimes combined, she creats contradictions, paradoxes, reversed objects and new layers of meanings. During her Paper Residency! in Munich, Lebus created seemingly flowing structures reminiscent of flesh and textile fabric out of watercolor paper and fluids. Lebus’s hyper-contemporary works were honored with awards and scholarship programs, such as Hegenbarth Scholarship, Leonardo Scholarship, Artist in Residence at Q2 Museumsquartier, Vienna and others. She regularly takes part of exhibitions throughout Europe.
