André Bonani is a visual artist and educator. He is a doctoral candidate in Artistic Processes and Procedures in the Graduate Program in Arts at the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (IA-UNESP), where he also teaches printmaking and graphic processes. He holds a master’s degree in Languages, Media, and Art from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUCCAMP), where he was a full merit scholar (2018–2020). He studied drawing and collage at the Tomie Ohtake Institute, where he was also awarded a full scholarship (2016). Bonani conducts research in expanded field printmaking at Atelier Piratininga, where he has been a resident artist since the second semester of 2022. He is a research member of the "Artecolapso: Practicable Images of the World" group, coordinated by Dr. Renata Pedrosa Romeiro and Dr. Gustavo de Moura Valença Motta, associated with the Institute of Arts at UNESP. He is also the creator of the “Experimental Graphic Workshop” art-education project, a collective printmaking experimentation workshop that travels to various cultural institutions and is currently hosted at the Sesc Pompeia print studio. Bonani was an artist-in-residence at the Olho de Boi Industrial Complex in Almada, Portugal (2020), invited by artist Rui Soares Costa. In May and June 2024, he held his first solo exhibition, "The Echo of Ancient Words," at Atelier Piratininga, with texts by Agnaldo Farias and Ulysses Bôscolo. His work has been featured in group exhibitions, fairs, and open studios, including at Espaço Vitrine (2018), Galpão Comum (2021), Atelier Piratininga (2022), Ateliê 3 (2022), Massapê Projetos (2023), IA-UNESP (2023), Lux Espaço de Arte (2023), Museum of Contemporary Art of Sorocaba (2023), Museum of Art of Ribeirão Preto (2024), and SESI Itapetininga (2024). His work is part of private and public collections, including the Gravura Brasileira gallery and the Rotating Collection project. His pieces have been published in visual arts magazines such as Revista Uso (2022) and Revista Têmpera (2022). In 2021, he received a certificate of artistic merit from the Luxembourg Grand Ducal Printmaking Gallery. He previously worked as an assistant to visual artist Adrianne Gallinari (2016) and has experience as an illustrator in the editorial market, contributing to outlets like Folha de São Paulo, the 5th Biennial of Psychoanalysis and Culture of Ribeirão Preto, Dolores Editora, and Grande Área Publishing. He was a finalist in the Poster Competition for the 30th Design Award of the Museu da Casa Brasileira (2016) and has published articles in academic journals such as Revista Gama from the Center for Research and Studies in Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon (2019–2020). Bonani has participated in academic events in fine arts, including seminars, conferences, and thesis defense panels. He also works as a private teacher in art education, graphic arts, art history, and as a mentor for creative processes in fine arts, teaching workshops and courses at schools, colleges, and cultural institutions. He lives and works in São Paulo.
