“Blue Composition I” (circa 2010 – 2017) is a limited-edition pigment giclee, hand signed and numbered 14/25 in pencil in the margin by the artist. The 24 x 17.25-inch sheet is of handmade cotton paper, and the work of art is surrounded by a silver metallic mat that has been placed in a simple 24.5 x 18.5-inch frame. Armando was a self-taught Dutch painter, sculptor, poet, and writer who was influenced by the German occupation of the Netherlands during World War II as well as the CoBrA movement of artists. He was known to make abstract drawings – with his left hand, in the dark! And in his paintings, he used not only a traditional brush, but his bare hands.
