'Resilience', by Begoña Lafuente, paintings Acrylic and paint on canvas stretched on frame. Framed in black wood. Inspired by longing towards the Mediterranean Sea, not the one that matches that postcard image we all have, of golden light and very blue water - the wild waves and their ability to make us feel small.
1969 España, Spain
Begoña Lafuente, (Spain, 1969) is a pictorial, graphic and multimedia artist; she currently develops her main creations from her studio on the North Sea, in the Netherlands. His career has its roots in graphic design developed in Madrid in the early 1990s, at a key moment for this discipline, when he reached the rank of artistic expression inside and outside the field of corporate image in Spain. Begoña intertwines her classical and artistic learning as a graduate in Fine Arts with the latest trends in representation in a constant research work and expands her experience as a graphic designer, art director and illustrator in different companies of corporate identity and advertising. In 2009 he moved to the Netherlands. Here Lafuente interacts with local and international artists from different fields and integrates in his works a new reality that blends in his paintings with carvings from the Spanish school. Play with different techniques such as painting, collage, drawing, photography, scans and monograms. He studies the human being as a symbol of self-expression; and creates an emotional and visual tension through the use of thematic contrasts, color, biological versus geometric forms, all representations of an ever-changing nature. Its portfolio also incorporates recognizable forms of the great masters of art history from a contemporary point of view. He frequently participates in local and international art fairs and exhibitions and his work is in private collections throughout Europe and the United States of America. ARTIST'S STATEMENT I am an explorer of the essence of ART, I wonder why there are timeless pieces and why others fall into oblivion. Art should be a timeless conversation in which everything is not said, but suggested. They are the unspeakable meanings that enrich, mystify and awaken the interest of the viewer and make an unforgettable piece. I try to find value in this implicit connection with you, the viewer, through every work of art. In my portraits, your eyes often follow you as you wonder what you're really contemplating. The vividness of my art is often reflected in the relationship between subject and title. I encourage you to look further with references to artistic cultural movements. I really like the creation process, taking my time to refine colors and shapes: movement and contrasts push each other to create an emotional and visual tension.
