(2nd child pilot) character, her face shielded by the artist’s pseudonym, and set against a patterned, logo-type background.
DEATH NYC is an anonymous street artist from New York City. She took the tag name “Death” from the abbreviation of “Don’t Easily Abandon the Hope”. One of her aims is to ridicule the mainstream media by making fun of popular images.
New York, United States
Death NYC is a street artist from New York. She grew up in New York, she was exposed to a variety of cultures, which made her question the things she saw on the street. This experience is vital in the choice of her pseudonym and approach. Death prefers to remain anonymous as this way she can keep her freedom to work in the street. Initially, Death used to paint on walls and floors of mainstream stores of the Soho and Chelsea quarter. Her pseudonym is actually an acronym of "Don't Easily Abandon The Hope", which is often misleading for the public, especially when the artist writes her slogan "Death is free" in the streets. In her work Death mocks the media, by distorting the images of the popular culture. One of her most famous works is Mao Zedong's representation with a pink bow in his hair and pink lipstick.
