Machine parts and industrial waste welded onto metal sheet

1936 Bogotá, Colombia

Edelmira Boller, a Colombian artist born in Bogotá in 1936, has established herself as a key figure in contemporary sculpture through her focus on geometric abstraction and innovative use of industrial waste. Her training at the David Manzur School in the 1970s provided her with the tools to explore new forms of artistic expression. In 1979, she held her first solo exhibition at the Belarca Gallery, marking her entry into the professional art circuit. Since then, she has successfully participated in several National Artists' Salons. Her work is renowned for contemplative and utilitarian sculptures, many crafted from scrap metal. This technique reflects not only her commitment to sustainability but also her deep connection to Colombian sculptural tradition, influenced by artists like Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar and Edgar Negret. Edelmira currently continues to explore her passion for sculpture, pushing the boundaries of material and form. She lives and works in Bogotá.
