Erté (Romain de Tirtoff, 1892 – 1990, Russian/French) “La Mysterieuse” (1980) – Limited edition cold painted and patinated bronze sculpture, cast from a model using the lost wax process, set upon a two-tiered bronze platform base incised with the engraved signature of the artist “Erté” and etched with markings ‘124/250 RKP INT. CORP. ©1980’.   Measures 15.5 x 14 x 9 inches.  The work of art is in good condition (considering its age), with some patina/bronze wear from age/storage, minor scuffing.  Depicted is an elegantly dressed woman in an elaborate flared gown by the Art Deco artist.  It is one in a series of bronze sculptures issued in limited editions during the 1980’s based on Erté’s vast portfolio of fashion designs as well as  film, opera and ballet costumes.  The last photograph features Erté sitting with designer Nolan Miller next to an example of the “La Mysterieuse” sculpture owned by Miller.
