“Erte” – born Romain de Tirtoff (1892 – 1990, Russian/French) Limited edition bronze sculpture measuring 20 x 8.5 x 7 inches, signed, foundry/publisher stamp “Seven Arts Ltd, London” and numbered 207/500. The sculpture is a hand embellished cold painted bronze Art Deco-style figure produced using the lost wax method. ‘Tosca’ is based on a costume Erte designed for the 1920 Chicago Opera Company production of the opera. She is wearing a stunning deep plum colored full-length gown with yellow gold leaf. In Erte’s words: “…I assemble a woman in full costume inside my head, swirling in her gown, showing every fold, seam and hem.”
