Erte (1892 – 1990, Russian/French) “Sophisticated Lady” (1980) - Limited Edition polychrome and gilt, silvered and black bronze sculpture, cast from a model using the lost wax process, set upon a stepped marble base incised with the engraved signature of the artist “Erte” and stamped with edition number ‘104/250 [symbol] RKP INT. CORP. © 1980’. Measures 16 x 10.25 x 5.75 inches and weighs 17.1 lbs. An Art Deco-style figure of a young woman with arm extended, wearing an off-the shoulder gown with train draped down to her feet. Erte began in the Art Deco movement in his younger years, and after revisiting the concept as an elderly man, it was reborn.

Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, from the French pronunciation of his initials RT (pronounced: [ɛʁ.te]). He was a diversely talented 20th-century artist and designer who flourished in an array of fields, including fashion, jewelry, graphic arts, costume and set design for film, theater, opera, and interior decor.
