, Argentina
Gonzalo Lauda was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1967. He began his photography studies in 1985 together with Pedro Luís Raota, Eduardo Gil and Fabiana Barreda.
At the age of 17, his father, attentive to his interest in the seventh art, gave him his first camera: a Minolta K1000, with which he began his own path of learning. He defines himself as self-taught.
From the beginning, his interest in the reliefs, fauna and landscapes of his country, drove him to delve deeper into artistic photography. You want it to remain constant throughout your career.
Between 1989 and 1990, he traveled to Europe, where he generated several contacts that allowed him, once on a trip to Argentina, to become fully immersed in the world of fashion photography.
He set up his first photography studio in the garage at the bottom of his father's house, where he carried out his first work for his friends.
In 1994 he opened a studio in the Dorrego Lofts, in Palermo, and established himself as a fashion photographer, working for the most recognized editorials and running important fashion campaigns.
In 2002, he set up the study of his animals in a warehouse he acquired in the neighborhood of Nuñez, Buenos Aires. From now on he entered the world of advertising photography, where he ended up settling in 2009, founding his own production company, STRUKA. Over the years, STRUKA has worked for major national and international brands, such as: Brahama, Telecom, Movistar, Honda, Volskwagen, Quilmes, Imperial, Stella Artois, Corona, Nike, Fila, among others.
At the same time, in 2005, Gonzalo resumed his latent interest in the world of artistic photography, and made new photographic trips through Argentina.
In 2013, he published “Agua”, his first book, which brings together photographs of horizons where the sea and lakes of Argentine Patagonia take center stage.
In 2015 he visited the Malvinas Islands, and as a result of this trip, he published his second book “Malvinas”. Some of these pieces were exposed in the Museo Malvinas e Islas del Atlántico Sur, in the former ESMA.
This interest in history has been with him since 2016, working on the series “Independencia”, where he recreates scenes from Argentine independence history, and from where he directs the scene until he achieves the image he seeks.
