He is a member of the Norwegian Association of Independent Artists (NFUK), the Norwegian Association of Visual Artists (NBK/Norsk Billedkunstnere), the Oslo Association of Visual Artists (BO/Billedkunstnerne i Oslo) and the Norwegian Drawing Society (Tegnerforbundet). He has his art education from California Lutheran University (USA), the National College of Art and Design in Oslo, and the Strykejernet Art School in Oslo. He was also associated with the Can Serrat International Art Center near Barcelona during the founding phase from 1991-2001. Mr. Engberg's artwork asks us the question: “Behind objective reality there is a different world; a world that often presents itself to us through dreams and other enlightened states. What if we dare to lift the metaphysical veil a little, the thin film, to see what lies behind it?” With a clear reference to surrealism, the artist shows us magical landscapes, raw emotions and absurd situations that are reproduced on the two-dimensional surface.
