This work is characterised by equal intensity or translucent forms combining into the sensuous blue background of open space, firmly circumscribed with sculptural and spatial structure elements. Katalin Hetey explores and illustrates the continuity of the interpretation of space and plane and the harmonious balance and contrast of static and dynamic, vertical and horizontal, straight and curved, blue and other elements.
"If I think of the form it is the hairdo of Velázquez's infantas that enchants me (..). The perfect unity of closed forms."
1924 , Hungary
Katalin Hetey (1924-2010) graphic designer, painter and sculptor left Hungary in 1956. First she went Italy (where she met Alberto Burri and Marino Marini) then she moved to France. Her works were exhibited in Galerie Lambert, Paris and in the Stedelijk Museum in Netherland. In the late 60's using cement, marble powder and mixture of binders made white reliefs, examining the theme of the material's self-molding and chaos. From the seventies his intention was moving towards the clear forms and made spatulas and mock-ups that can be realized in monumental sizes. Its movable, variable steel plastics can be found in countless museums and private collections.
