Katsumi Hayakawa says that we need to go back to the classic and basic concept of art: point, line, and plane. It is no exaggeration to say that from his early works to the present, Katsumi Hayakawa's interest has consistently been in "layering". In his early works, he expressed various layers by scratching and digging after applying layers of paint. In his three-dimensional works on paper, he creates "layers" by folding, stacking, and piling up the paper. The universe, the earth, humanity, and each individual has a history that is layered in different depths. His abstract works focus on all such layers.
