Leiko Ikemura (イケムラレイコ, *1951 in Tsu, JAP) is one of the most renowned artists of today. She easily combines her Asian roots with the European culture in her landscape paintings and sculptural works that often revolve around themes of transformation and the mergence of man and nature. Ikemura received the August Macke Award, 2009 and German Critics' Award for Fine Arts, 2001. Her works are exhibited in museums worldwide, i.e. at Kunsthalle Karlsruhe; Kunstmuseum Basel; MCBA Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts, Lausanne; National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; Nevada Museum of Art, Reno; Weserburg - Museum of Modern Art, Bremen et al.
