Born in 1977 in Château d'Oex, Michael Rampa was self-taught.
The work of Michael Rampa has been exhibited in many institutions, such as: Château de Gruyères (2017), Quartier Général Contemporary Art Center (2016), Espace Arlaud Lausanne (2015, 2007), Espace Kugler Geneva (2015), Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne (2006), Villa Dutoit Geneva (2005), Centre Culturel Suisse Paris (2005).
He has been awarded various distinctions and scholarships: Abraham Hermenjat Lausanne Scholarship (2014), Leenaards Foundation Lausanne Scholarship (2011), Swiss Art Award Basel(2007).
Michael Rampa makes an enigmatic tension emerge within his work. Summoning with dreamlike aestheticism the natural element, he offers a controlled exploration of voids and solids, the human evolving in an immobile solitude. Self-taught, the artist manages to generate an imaginary space that reveals itself to the viewer like a memory.
