Blackwood. The sculpture looks and feels like metal but actually it was made with artist's excellent finesse. Very smooth surface. The subject matters of Trindade's sculptures are drawn from the daily lives of Mozambican people. He uses entirely natural woods for his sculpting. His sculptural creations not only show a respect and love to nature, but also a respect and love to people and their lives.

Nino Trindade was born in 1982 in Maputo, Mozambique. As a child, he began creating white sand drawings with the guidance of local artists near the school he attended. Later he moved in with his uncle, a sculptor, where he took up sculpting as a regular activity, honing his skills. In 1998, he ventured into wood carving. He participated in craft fairs where he showcased and sold his creations. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Visual Arts at the Higher Institute of Arts and Culture (ISARC) in Maputo from 2002 to 2016. He is currently pursuing a Master degree in Multimedia Design (2023-2025) at the Faculty of Engineering, Pedagogical University of Mozambique. Trindade was awarded for his wood sculpting technique in the TDM Biennial in Maputo, Mozambique, in 2011, and since then he has been noticed by curators and art critics who have interviewed him and written about his practice.
