Virgilio Ramon Villalba, was born in 1925 in Tenerife (Canary Islands), Spain. In 1928 his family settles in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredon (Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón) in Buenos Aires, he joins the association Arte Concreto-Invención founded by Tomas Maldonado in 1946. He was a fellow member of Asociación Arte Nuevo established in 1956 in Buenos Aires by Carmelo Arden Quin and Aldo Pellegrini. This organization aims to promote non-figurative art through publications, exhibitions and conferences. He obtained a scholarship from the British Council and spent a year in Oxford, England. From there he moved to Paris, France in the early 1960’s, pursuing his art research and progressively evolving from geometric abstraction to figurative art. He died in Paris, France in April 2009.
