Oil on canvas

1992 Beijing, China

Xiang Shuai is a Chinese male artist born in 1992 who lives and works between Beijing and Chongqing, China. In 2010-2012, he studied in the Department of Sculpture Art and Design of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. In 2013-2014, he pursued independently his studies at Ma Baozhong Studio in Beijing. His artworks belong to Guangdong Contemporary Art Foundation, Chongqing Yijing Art Museum, X Art Gallery, Star Art Gallery & Heyu Capital. His works from the beginning focus to the scattered, the old and the covered light. Shuai cares about the instinct and improvisation in creation, he also tries to break away from the specific narrative methods to achieve a spiritual recognition that is unified with me through a lot of smearing and continuous entry. His work naturally introduces a lot of uncertainty, implicit, ambiguity, euphemism, and even ambiguity, which is my greatest and most sincere description of the facts. Slowly, this kind of subjective stagnation, delicate chewing, facing the blurred boundaries. Slowly generated the same trajectory of my current life experience and creation. Xiang Shuai’s works have always focused on the real experience of individual life and make an inward exploration and expression in the way of painting. Keep an eye on the tension of the inner world and the external order. Turn the canvas into a Colosseum. He also tries to make the residual temperature emerge through sincere practice and regard it as a place to live.
