From 11/06/2022 To 02/07/2022
ArtToSaveLives Contemporary, a Miami based Art Gallery (located at 9705 NE 2nd Ave., Miami, FL 33138), is hosting a special exhibition June 11 – July 2, 2022, exploring the visual nature within literature. The organization will showcase writers and aspiring authors with an opening reception to be held from 5-8 p.m., on Saturday, June 11. Exhibited styles will be novels, short stories, poetry, articles, and more. Curated by Luba Kladienko-Ramirez.
“The idea behind this unusual exhibition is to explore physical written work as paintings on the walls, bringing together the two art genres – literature and visual arts,” said Luba Kladienko-Ramirez (gallery director/founder). “We asked writers to choose excerpts from their proposed works, which then will be framed and/or displayed in various fun ways on the walls of the gallery’s Main Space.”
The concept behind the excerpts is to generate excitement about the works and lead viewers to acquire/read the authors’ books. The gallery has requested one signed copy of each participant’s work on hand.
“This is our very first exhibition of this nature,” Kladienko-Ramirez explained. “We are excited about the efforts of these up-and-coming writers and are looking to make this an annual event, during our Community Outreach Summer Programming.”
Participating authors include Luz Agudelo, Billy Jones, Lauryn Lawrence, Dr. Diana Levy, Alexandra Martinez, Anita Sharma, Geoffrey Philp, Mister Figg, Monica Torres Vega, and Adele Royce. Contributors from The Jitney include J.J. Colagrande, Luis Garcia, David Rolland, Timothy Schmand, and Elisa Turner.
The concept of ArtToSaveLives was founded in 2006 to fund a private animal rescue with the proceeds from their main artist’s works. Beginning in New York as a foster/gallery space under various names, the organization officially became ArtToSaveLives Contemporary in 2018. JuanCarlos rLora (the artist), together with the gallery, put 80 percent of its proceeds towards their beloved mission with the goal of obtaining farmland and establishing an animal sanctuary, along with the art gallery/museum space. ArtToSaveLives strives to provide its patrons an immersive experience that captures the beauty of art, paired with a noble cause.
