Home Shows Material Resilience

The UN-SPACED gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of the double exhibition, "Material Resilience" - the first monographic exhibition of the Brazilian sculptor Túlio Pinto in France. The opening will take place at 43 rue de Montmorency 75003 Paris.

Born in 1974 in Brazil, Túlio Pinto has been presented at the "Nova Escultura Brasileira" exhibition at the Caixa Cultura in Rio de Janeiro, at the Vancouver Biennial and at the Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art (phICA) and the Museum of Art Rio Grande do Sul Ado Malagoli (MARGS) in Porto Alegre, where he lives and works.

His art has been acquired by private and public collections worldwide, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sorocaba (MACS) in Brazil and the Marta Herford Museum in Germany.

Pinto’s work has been creating a buzz and shown for several years in Europe by selected galleries, including UN-SPACED. European presentation resulted with Pinto sourcing new production houses of industrial corten steel in Madrid, glass, blown by hand in Irun, in the Spanish Basque Country, and natural stone also sourced in Spain. Opposing materials, modelled by the artist are assembled in perfect balance, sometimes in relation to surrounding architecture. Continuing the legacy of Brazilian artistic modernism and architectural rationalism, Pinto’s practice is based on notions of physics and the laws of nature with a view to subverting artistic norms. Pinto materialises the invisible force of gravity, creating material resilience, a careful stability between rival materials and an enterprising outcome.
