Janise Yntema is an American abstract painter based in Brussels, known for her mastery of encaustic wax—a blend of beeswax, resin, and pigments activated by heat. Educated at the Art Students League and Parsons School of Design in New York, she creates luminous, layered compositions on wooden panels by applying and fusing wax with a blowtorch. Yntema’s process is both deliberate and intuitive, building translucent layers that play with light and depth through an additive and reductive technique.
