Home Magazine Accademia Carrara x SACBO: “Giovanni Fattori in Bianco e Nero” at Milano Bergamo Airport

Accademia Carrara and SACBO present eleven graphic works by 19th century artist Giovanni Fattori in the HelloSky Lounge at Milano Bergamo Airport. The exhibition will be open from July 17 to November 18, 2024.

After the success of the “Vette di Luce” for Bergamo Brescia Italian Capitals of Culture in 2023, Accademia Carrara and SACBO renewed their collaboration with a new exhibition located in the HelloSky Lounge at Milano Bergamo Airport. Through the loan of eleven etchings by Giovanni Fattori (Livorno, 1825 – Firenze, 1908) the Airport is confirmed to be both an international entry point to the country and an art venue. From a place of relaxation, the lounge thus becomes an art venue carrying visitors directly to the museum halls, where travelers can continue their visit. This exhibition is proof that Orio Al Serio Airport is a fundamental hub for reaching the city and for wandering among Carrara’s invaluable artworks.

Through these eleven graphic works ranging from portraits to genre scenes, Fattori offers travelers the opportunity to navigate the 19th century rural and military life, by exploring stories of people and places. Diving into the humble aspects of day-to-day life in which he finds a more genuine inspiration, Fattori aims to portray a poetic imaginary that evokes a calling to country life: choosing etching as a medium confirms this vision, as it enables a bare and blunt representation of a wondrous nature.

“The Milano Bergamo Airport has chosen for a long time to open its door to the arts and offer HelloSky Lounge visitors some invaluable pieces from Accademia Carrara. The exhibition of Giovanni Fattori’s graphic works enriches the time spent in HelloSky Lounge and it invites travelers to visit the Museum’s pictorial journey.” Giovanni Sanga, president of SACBO.

“The collaboration with SACBO offers Accademia Carrara a display in an unexpected place which we hope might arouse the curiosity of those who do not yet know it. At the same time, the most anxious travelers can find a moment of peace and quiet contemplating fascinating artworks” Martina Bangnoli, director at Accademia Carrara.
