Sholeh Abghari Art Gallery Presents: "Geometric Perspective" by Mehdi Nabavi Sholeh, an exhibition featuring two collections of Mehdi Nabavi’s recent works: Perspective of Motifs and Portrait Patterns. Mehdi Nabavi is a visionary contemporary artist from Iran, currently resides in the United Kingdom and is renowned for his exquisite creations that transcend conventional boundaries.
Daniel Mehdi Nabavi was born in 1978. He is mostly known through his artwork using cut mirrors, next to his sculptures and portraits. The artist finds mirrors the perfect materials to create pop art. According to him: “we don’t perceive objects as they really are, we see everything through our own perspective.” This means that we see everything the way we want it. We are looking for ourselves in everything and anything that we are looking at all the time. This is the reason why he uses mirrors, because you see yourself reflected in them once standing in front of his works.

Mehdi Nabavi's artistic journey began with his inaugural solo exhibition in Tehran in 2010, marking the inception of a captivating odyssey through the world of fragmented reflections and ephemeral shadows. His works are characterized by the transformative interplay of broken mirrors and glass shards on wood, inviting the viewer into a mesmerizing world of fractured reflections. Nabavi's art gives rise to a kaleidoscope of shifting images, where light and shadow dance in harmony, encapsulating the ephemeral nature of existence.
The exhibition "Geometric Perspective", held at Sholeh Abghari Gallery, delves into Mehdi Nabavi's profound inspiration drawn from perspective and traditional architecture. His artistic philosophy emphasizes the importance of how we perceive ourselves in everything and anything we observe. Nabavi was the youngest artist admitted to the Iranian Contemporary Painting Biennale, and his creative vision is distinguished by his innovative use of cut mirrors, UV-printed portraits, sculptures, and both 3D and 2D styles. His consistent exploration of geometric themes demonstrates an ongoing refinement and experimentation, navigating between perspective and geometry. The exhibition highlights are the collection “Perspective of Motifs”, featuring intricate designs where traditional motifs are reimagined through Nabavi's unique lens, utilizing mirrors and glass to create dynamic, reflective surfaces that challenge the viewer's perception. “Portrait Patterns” is made with UV printing to produce striking portraits that blend realism with abstract patterns, emphasizing the fragmented nature of identity and perception.
