Liste Art Fair Basel, one of the most anticipated events in the contemporary art world, has announced the list of exhibitors for its 2023 edition. Taking place from 12th to 18th June at Messe Basel's Hall 1.1, the fair will showcase artworks from 88 galleries representing 35 countries. With over 100 artists featured in 66 solo presentations, 18 group exhibitions, and two joint stands, visitors can expect to witness the latest voices and trends in contemporary art.
Joanna Kamm, the director of Liste, noted a shift from “introspective to outward-looking perspectives among artists” and expressed her excitement for this year’s exhibition. The showcased works will feature immersive installations, time-based media, AI and computer-generated images, as well as powerful representations in painting and photography. These different approaches will show how artists perceive the world from various angles, under different circumstances, and in distinct locations.
The fair will also provide a digital edition, Liste Showtime Online, which allows participating galleries to extend their presentations online. Moreover, Liste Expedition Online, a non-commercial research forum, presents an artist index with emerging talents in contemporary art and collaborates with artists and magazines for special projects, providing a year-round platform for engagement.
Liste Art Fair Basel, founded in 1996, has gained a reputation as an international platform for discovering emerging artists and trends in contemporary art. Many renowned galleries for contemporary art today trace their beginnings back to their participation in Liste. Alongside the fresh faces, the fair is pleased to welcome back galleries that have previously exhibited, including the long-awaited return of Nova from Bangkok and ROH Projects from Jakarta, both returning after the pandemic. Notably, two galleries from Kyiv, The Naked Room and Voloshyn, as well as the Ukrainian collective Understructures, presented by wanda gallery, will also be participating again, following their appearance at Liste last year as part of the solidarity support initiative.
Liste Art Fair Basel is made possible by the enduring support of E. Gutzwiller & Cie, Banquiers, Basel, who have been the main partner for the past 27 years.
