Liste Art Fair Basel is one of the most prominent fairs happening during the summer period. Founded in 1996 the fair always hosts the best younger generation of galleries. All the big galleries founded after 1996, now leaders in the art world, have exhibited at Liste during the first years of their careers. This year the fair is celebrating its 29th edition, taking place from the 10th to the 16th of June. The galleries represented are pioneers in representing the latest developments and trends in the contemporary art world.

In this 2024 edition, the fair declared that 91 galleries, coming from 35 different countries will be present. They will represent and exhibit the works of more than 100 artists, representing 75 solo shows and 16 group presentations exhibited alongside 5 joint booths. This is what makes the fair unique: it is one of the only realities that exhibit such a great number of solo shows. Indeed, two thirds of the galleries curates the works of a singular artist, making the fair a pioneer actor of contemporary artists and the art sector.

This 29th edition exposes the theme of the sense of urgency about the current political and ecological crisis our world is facing, highlighting the difficult relationship between humans and the environment. Another important theme is the ability to reflect on time, memory and transience. The artists exhibited use their artistic practices to explore the ephemeral nature of the human experience and the inevitable confrontation with morality and loss.

The co- founder of Liste Art Fair Basel, Peter Bläuer, who this year covered the role of art director, commented: “almost every young gallery still applies to Liste and wants to be part of this important platform in Basel. This year, we are once again able to present the most promising new galleries and their artists to an international audience of experts. It makes me very happy to once again work with Stiftung Liste Basel on this important task of helping to promote a future generation of galleries. What could be better than supporting and helping? So, dear experts! take a good look! There is a lot to discover again this year.” Reto Nussbaum, Commercial Director of the fair, added that their core task, which is to find the most exciting up-and-coming galleries, has been taken very seriously, as always. Liste is excited to open its door to the public celebrating its 2024 edition.
