Walking around the “salon-like situation”, as described by Heinrich Carstens and Kristian Jarmuschek directors of the art fair, the flow creates a down-to-earth exhibit which is not a space to show off, but one of dialogue, exchange and unpretentious conversations.
Encompassing contemporary and modern art, fragile and humble artworks will be displayed in all their variety in Berlin towards the end of August. The fair will show a delicate collection of works created on paper, focusing on drawings and the incredible versatility of this fundamental medium.

From the 19th to the 22nd of August 2021, in Berlin-Mitte at the Deutsche Telekom Hauptstadtrepraesentanz, paper positions berlin presents the fifth edition of the German capital’s edition of the fair. This multifunctional and dynamic space is a distinctive and surprising place for such humble artworks.
This edition will include a special presentation honouring artist Iris Schomaker, awarded in 2020. As well as the exclusively female paper positions award, won by this distinguished artist, a fresh award will be offered as well. This one, PAPER ART AWARD marks and connects to the ‘Haus des Papiers’, also in Berlin, with the winning artist’s outstanding, stimulating and special works being acquired by this new museum.
This year, paper positions berlin gives artists and art lovers of all kinds the possibility to return to the sensitivity which guides you in the delicate, the fundamental and the humble. It is an occasion for an honest reflection on the simplicity, power and creativity we can find in art.
