Set along the tranquil banks of the Old Danube, Bank Austria Park redefines Vienna’s relationship with public art — blending landscape, sculpture, and community into a living dialogue between creativity and place.
Nestled in one of Vienna’s most serene urban settings, Bank Austria Park emerges as a new 28,000 m² cultural destination curated by André Heller for UniCredit Bank Austria. Stretching across Stretching across a vast green expanse by the Old Danube, the park integrates fourteen contemporary installations within a designed landscape that invites both introspection and exchange. Conceived as an open-air exhibition space, the park brings together fourteen contemporary installations that explore the intersection between art, dialogue, and the natural world.
Among these works, Foundations by Marek Zyga emerges as a central gesture of connection. The sculpture depicts a human figure holding aloft a towering lattice of steel — a dialogue between solidity and transparency, structure and air. As sunlight filters through the open form, and casts shifting shadows across the ground, turning the work into a living instrument of reflection.
Around it, the park unfolds in gentle layers — the river gliding past, the trees casting their shifting shadows, the city murmuring beyond. Together, they create a rhythm of openness and calm, a space where art and landscape coexist without boundary.
As daylight shifts, the sculpture transforms — its form dissolving into air, its presence mirrored in the water below. In that quiet exchange between material and light, Foundations becomes part of the landscape itself — a moment suspended between earth and sky.
