Shaping a visual dialogue between contemporary abstraction and alpine landscape, the project creates a cohesive artistic identity that connects architecture, nature, and hospitality through curated works placed across public spaces and guest rooms.
Nestled at 1,600 meters above sea level in the Orobie Park, Colere 1600 by Cloud 7 Hotels represents a new gateway to the mountain destination of Colere, just an hour and a half from Milan. Conceived as part of a broader revitalisation of the area, the project combines contemporary hospitality with the natural beauty of the Presolana massif, offering a year-round destination where sport, social life, and design coexist.
The renovation, designed by the Milan-based studio P2A Design, transformed 2,800 square meters using natural materials such as larch, oak, and local stone, paired with satin steel and refined finishes to create interiors that are warm, essential, and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
Within this context, we were commissioned to develop the art consultancy for the entire hotel, defining a visual language capable of reinforcing the architectural concept while creating an emotional connection between guests and the alpine environment. From the curatorial concept to the selection, placement, and installation of every artwork, the intervention focused on building a coherent narrative that accompanies visitors throughout the hotel, from the social areas to the most private rooms.
Our approach began with a clear idea: to develop an art program that could translate the surrounding alpine landscape into a contemporary visual language, without resorting to literal representation in the shared spaces.
The architecture already establishes a strong dialogue with nature through wood, stone, and natural light; the artworks were therefore chosen to extend this dialogue through colour, form, and texture.
In the public areas, including lounge, restaurant, bar, and circulation spaces, we introduced large abstract compositions characterised by organic shapes and natural tones. The palette of greens, terracotta, deep reds, sand, and muted blues recalls vegetation, rock, soil, and seasonal changes in the mountains, while the fluid forms echo the contours of the surrounding peaks.
Placed within wood-lined niches and seating areas, the artworks act as visual anchors that structure the space without overwhelming it, reinforcing the feeling of warmth and sociality that defines the hotel.
From the moment guests enter the hotel, the artworks help define the rhythm of the interiors. The abstract paintings interact with the sculptural black steel fireplaces, the oak wall panels, and the large openings toward the landscape, creating a balanced composition where architecture and art support each other.
Rather than functioning as decorative elements, the works were selected to become part of the spatial experience, guiding the eye and giving each area a distinct character while maintaining a consistent visual identity throughout the building.
This approach reflects the philosophy behind the Cloud 7 Hotels concept, where hospitality spaces are designed as environments for gathering and social interaction, open throughout the day and evening.
In the guest rooms, the art narrative shifts toward a more intimate dimension.
Here, instead of abstraction, we introduced mountain photographic prints and landscape imagery, chosen to create a direct emotional connection with the environment visible from the windows and terraces.
Each room was conceived as a quiet extension of the surrounding territory. The images, characterised by soft gradients, layered horizons, and atmospheric depth, echo the Presolana and the Orobie Alps, reinforcing the sense of retreat and calm that defines the hospitality experience.
The works integrate with the custom furniture in oak, the deep green details, and the natural fabrics, contributing to interiors that feel both contemporary and rooted in place.
A continuous narrative from social spaces to private rooms
The strength of the project lies in the continuity between the different areas of the hotel. Abstract works in the public spaces create a contemporary and social atmosphere, while the mountain imagery in the rooms offers a more personal and contemplative experience. Together, they form a single visual story that accompanies guests throughout their stay.
Through concept, curation, and installation, the art consultancy helped define an identity that reflects both the architectural vision of the project and the character of Colere itself, a destination where nature, sport, and design meet.
Ultimately, the artistic program for Colere 1600 by Cloud 7 Hotels transforms the hotel into more than a place to stay. It becomes a space where landscape, architecture, and art exist in constant dialogue, allowing guests to experience the mountains not only through the view outside, but also through the atmosphere within.
